Had the bed supports rails replaced since they were rotted out. The Dorman kits doesn’t have the front support rail so they had to fab that one. All inclusive it ran about $1500 with labor and parts. Well worth it. They said the rails just crumbled when they pulled the bolts. If I had thrown a big load in the bed it would have probably collapsed the rails. Bed pan was in perfect shape though. Just a couple melted bed liner spots from the install but all is good. Truck seems quiet now so obviously some of my troubling noises I feared might be drive train issues were the bed shifting and popping from lack of support.
I have the illusion (delusion?) That I'm one day going to tackle this myself... SMH
In theory it's an easy job, you disconnect the filler tube and some lighting harnesses and you reverse to install. I have access to a forklift at work so I could rig up a strap system to support the bed.

Lazy! Maybe I'll trade it in. Haha
Call up 3 friends and remove the bed & flip it upside down. Remove the old rails (air chisel and flap disk grinder) and plug weld in the new ones. Prime & paint. Get the friends to come back over and reinstall with a new bolt kit. Offer some beers. Done.

Oh you beat me to it. Upside down is a lot easer to do that type of work. Use a good paint on the inside of the replacements in
places away from the welding heat and at the weld points use a weld through primer. The bed I just picked up on my little trip
to Idaho was not in that much need. How ever it did have a little bit of rust and I treated that with conversion and then sprayed
so inside limited access rust preventer I got from Eastwood.
Now in this first post you can see where the craters were.
This is what I used to spray the back sides after using the pressure washer
to blow out all the crud I could and remove any flakes.
The stuff is a little bit thicker than water so it seeps between seams and stacked plates of metal.
That joint got 3 coats with the required flash time in between. The first coat is just a light mist spray to give the paint something to grab onto.
The next coar can go on a bit heavier and then the last one.
Last winter I started to gather all the parts needed to replace my supports. A support kit minus the very rear one. A couple floor patch kits etc. When I removed the bed, The floor was worse than I thought so I did what Sean did. Bought a nice Southern box from a 2012, a new tailgate and had everything painted to match. I still have the cross member kit and floor patches if anyone is interested?
Well I got more today.
The guy in The big brown truck showed up and dropped off a 70Lb box with more items to fix the collision damage.
YEP My exhaust is here. Now I only need the 2 fender flairs as the new bed did not use them for that trim level.

I'm interested. How much are you looking to get for it?
