Blend door issue

I have an 09 F-150, twice I had the poping noise and replaced the blend door actuator. Now I'm having issues again but it's different. The actuator works but only all hot or all cold. I turn the dial and nothing happens until I reach a point and it does a full switch. I lost my middle. Could my dial be bad or is there some sort of resistor like there fan speed dial has?

The blend door could've broke. Did you try disconnecting the actuator and manually moving the door to feel if it moves smoothly?

I have not tore it apart yet. It's not real fun to get to. Didn't even think about the door being broke, crap. I'll probably try replacing the actuator since they don't seem to last very long anyways.

Just FYI, just changed the actuator and everything is working good now. I thought maybe the temp **** was bad but the actuator was cheaper so I changed it first. All is good!

The actuator was redesigned with bigger gears. Were the replacements that broke of the new design or old?

Advice needed

I have a F150 2010 that the heat is not working on the drivers side but is on the passengers side. I took it on for a quote and they said it was the LH blend door actuator and quoted me $1100. I called another shop and they quoted me $800 to change the LH blend door actuator. They supposable did not have to take the whole dash off but loosened it and were able to get to the back bolt. I unfortunately paid them then checked and the heat was not working. They advised they never tested it before putting it back together. They are looking at it again tomorrow and will be calling me. He said the whole assembly (actually blend doors, multiple actuators, etc.) may need to be replaced which will cost $800 plus for the part not including labor. Is it possible they changed the wrong actuator as from what I've read the dash, console, etc. all have to be taken out. I am now out $800 with no heat and wondering if replacing the whole assembly is the only solution or is it just the easiest fix for them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I did not compare the different actuators. This time though, the gears didn't breaks because it still opened and closed all the way, it just had nothing in the middle. It was always all hot or all cold. I'm guessing the contacts inside were not contacting.
