I am going to install a 460 in a 1975 F250 Highboy Frame and I would like to put an AOD behind it. The problem I am trying to figure out is the 203 Transfer Case is connected to a shift linkage that bolts to the side of the C6 that was in the frame. Can a Rear Housing Assembly from a C6 be bolted onto an AOD? I know I am probably not re inventing the wheel here but my knowledge about fords interchanges between parts is very lacking. I would appreciate any help someone could give with this. I will post pictures if that would help.
The AOD you have is 2wd? If so forget it you need a 4wd version, a 2wd can't be converted without totally dismantling it to change the output shaft and even then C6 parts won't work. And all that is beside the fact that an AOD won't bolt up to a big block or survive very long even if you an adapter plate is used.

Okay, is there a newer Truck that would be a good parts truck that would hook to a BBF? Did the Late 80's and early 90's have a Automatic Trans in their 4X4's and would it be something I could use as an OD Trans? Like maybe an E4OD?
Get an E4OD from a '90 or newer 460. They were in the F-250 and F-350. It must come from a 460 or it won't bolt up. And the trans is computer controlled, so you're going to have to get a control system. There are aftermarket systems available.

Mark, Thanks for the Info. I knew there had to be a work around. I will be in search of a E4OD.
... and look for a 4WD version of the trans so it'll bolt to your transfer case. Otherwise you'll be asking how to convert a 2WD E4OD to 4WD and we'll be telling you that the easiest, cheapest way is to sell it and buy a 4WD one.
Your truck has a divorced transfer case unless someone has changed it. You will want a 2wd transmission and have to shorten the drive shaft between the transmission and transfer case. You will probably have to make a bracket that holds the transfer case lever.
You might want to ask this in the 67-76 thread. A lot of guys that know bumbs there.
