2WD to 4WD Conversion

Ok gents need some help. Got a 1999 F350 2WD truck given to me and was wondering how much of a pain in the *** it would be to change it over to 4WD. It has a 460 so that's why I'm interested in doing conversion. Also if you guys can help with what transfer and front axle should go with. It's not in my possession yet so I can't tell you what gear ratio it is. I do know it's a automatic for sure. Thanks for any help.

First, you posted this in the F-150 section, yet you say you have an F-350. Next, you say it's a 1999. The last year for the 460 was 1997. So what truck do you really have?

No matter what your answer to what the truck is, it takes A LOT of work and new parts to convert any truck from two wheel drive to four wheel drive.

Major surgery requiring significant expertise. Not just bolting on extra parts.

If you want 75% of the capability for 5% of the effort, add a locker or limited slip diff to your rear axle.
