speedometer drive gear size.

Alright guys, yet another question regarding my frankenstein f200. I'm trying to figure out how big of a speedo drive gear to order and figured i'd ask the all knowing FTE crowd. It's got 29 inch tall tires, 3.08 dana 60 rear end, a NP435 manual trans, and it shouldn't matter, but a 300 i6. If you could tell me roughly how many teeth i'll need on the gear that would save me a lot of time and a little bit of money. Thanks in advance!

Is there one on there now, or is it missing entirely?
If intact and you're driving the vehicle, is the speedometer off by a known amount?

Or are you starting from scratch?

What is the New Process 435 and the Dana 60 rear axle with the 3.08 ratio from?

DRIVE gear located on the output shaft, but no 70's F250 Dana 60 had a 3.08 ratio, which has to be matched to the NP435 and the original bias ply tire size to get the gear with the correct number of teeth.

They're available from ford dealer for a couple bucks a piece. If you have nothing now, you might try something like a 19 and see where that puts it. Unlikely that you'll get it right the first try. Gonna take at least two attempts.

You're describing the DRIVEN gear at the end of the cable. They're available with 16 thru 21 teeth from Ford & auto parts stores.

But, the OP wants the DRIVE gear that is located on the output shaft. It might be available from Ford, depending on which type it is and the tooth count which could be 7, 8 or 9.

So in answer to all the questions, There is one in there, but it is just on i had lying around to plug the hole so yes, i am starting from scratch. The NP435 came out of a 79 of some sort i believe, as for the dana 60, i have no clue. I am looking for the driven gear i guess. The one that goes on the end of the cable that plugs into the trans.

So that's actually the "driven" gear in this scenario. Yeah, it's a little counter-intuitive, since it actually does drive the speedometer. But with two gears, one is the "drive" gear (the one mounted to the shaft inside the case) and one the "driven" gear (the one clipped to the end of the speedometer cable) that is inserted into the hole with the cable.

Post 1, the OP said he wanted a DRIVE gear and since I cannot read minds, went with that.
