That was quite the treat you got, experiencing all the road tesing of the 2004 F150! I really enjoyed your article, and I am green with envy! LOL
It doesn't surprise me that the competition was lacking, but what does surprise me was how apparent the differences were in performance and handling!
One question I have to ask;
Were there ANY drawbacks to the new F150? I think it looks fantastic, and if I was one with money to buy a new vehicle (never had one), the F 150 would be it!!!
Mark
Thanks! It really helped my decision. I've been considering buying a new Ford truck after we sell the house and I was torn between a 6.0L Power Stroke and the new F150. The ride and drive made it an easier choice (I've got my eye on either a loaded XLT or a Lariat).
One downside I found is the pillar behind the driver sort of creates a blind spot, probably due to Ford increasing the pillar angle towards the vertical. Any other downsides will take time to find, as with any new vehicle...
Oh... another thing, the truck is heavier than the 1997-2003 but with the stronger engine and better frame/suspension you'd wouldn't know it while driving one!
I really tried to drive all the trucks with an open mind since I'm obviously biased but it was really easy see it was the clear winner.
Lastly, while the base models have the same price the overall pricing of the models/options is slightly more then before.
