I know this is an old thread but thought I would offer my two cents worth. I have a 2017 Ford C-Max Energi with about 25K miles on it. I have not had any problems with it. If you need a car for short trips it certainly handles that well. I plug it in every night and it gets about 12 miles to a charge. So, we can go to the grocery store, eat out, or any number of errands on one charge. On the road I am getting about 45-50 MPG. It drives very well but the high pitched whine of the electric motor takes some getting used to. It gets around very well in the ice and snow too.
Just took my 2017 C-Max to the dealership yesterday to trace a howling noise. They said my snow tires were making most of the noise and that they were also cupped. I asked what may have caused the cupping and they said misalignment. This car only had 26K miles on it. I bought it used with about 22K on it. Supposedly, it had been run through a comprehensive mechanical procedure and was sold to me with a new car warranty. I asked if an alignment was done on the car as part of that procedure. They checked but said no and wanted $85 to do one. I told them no thanks and took it to my local tire store where they aligned it for $54.95 and then installed a set of new all season tires. Both the left front and left rear were out of alignment. Now the howl is gone and car rides smooth as glass. I did complain to the dealership about selling me a used car with a new car warranty with no alignment check but I doubt if anyone there cares. If I hear back from them about this I will let you all know.
After I complained to the dealer about the C-Max not being aligned as part of their "comprehensive" mechanical protocol, they agreed that an alignment should have been done and that the cupping of my snow tires would not have happened if an alignment had been done as part of the process. They agreed to refund me $122 which is the difference in what they would have charged me to replace the tires and what I actually paid at my local tire store for tires and an alignment. This was the third car I had bought from this dealership so that was also a consideration. Overall, I think I was treated fairly and will continue my association with them.
