Survival Motorsports is where I got my rotating assembly for my 447 FE. I used Diamond Pistons, custom grind Comp hyd roller, Edel heads, Edel performer intake, PRW roller rockers, Comp Beehive valve springs and Tri Y long tube header. I also wanted a torque motor over a high rpm screamer so I kept the FE.

When they did a sonic check for wall thickness , I was not comfortable with doing a high HP build with that block. When I say High HP My goal is 600+ HP with 625 Torque . So the search for a High HP FE continued.
Much sadness ensued both emotionally and to my wallet.
The end result is currently 496 Cubes
I will post pictures of the MEGA FE that I got soon. It is not usable for my purpose in its current state . The motor was in a 7 or 8 second mustang , full race 14 to 1 compression .800 lift intake and exhaust Ports big enough to swallow your arm or at least small gophers!!
Well that is how hot-rodding goes.. your not alone. Sounds like you have a goal, a plan and now you are on your way. Good luck. 496 cubes will get that beast rolling!

That sounds like a well matched combo for the application.

Cross bolted main, side oiler Genesis block stuffed full of goodies going to have to get rid of the 14 to 1 pistons. Going for Autotec/ Racetec 10.5 to 1 pistons

Probably not going to use the adjustable cam timing set up from Danny Bee

Some of the other goodies I will be using the TD needle bearing roller rockers and shafts Not using the solid roller lifters or push rods for the .800 lift cam. Going for a hydraulic roller cam that is less aggressive

So the pictures out paced the story somewhat. When I found out that my 428 CJ was un suitable for my high HP build I had already started ordering some of the parts. Headers , oil pan , Edelbrock port injection set up and a full set of ARP bolts for the 428. Sooo I started looking for a big FE to build. I stumbled upon this 496 after several months of looking on a nationwide craigslist search engine. On the 428 I had planned on using a forged Scat stroker crank, and rods and the TD rocker system and Edelbrock heads. This motor had all of those parts and more. When I deducted the cost of those parts from the price of the motor, the cost of the block was minimal. After I found it and made a deal then I had a marathon 3 day there and back road trip from Austin Tx to Detroit which in my case really was the motor city !
During the wait for the bad news at the machine shop and the search for a new engine to build I continued to work on the truck. The first thing I started once I had the headers and oil pan on the mock up block was fabricating exhaust. 3" stainless with an H pipe crossover all the way to the bumper and around the rear mount 33 gallon plastic tank in a steel enclosure.
Pics of those next.

3 " stainless exhaust with a 2-1/2 crossover tucked up under the cross member running past the np 205 and next to my custom PVC drive shaft

muffler hangers in opposition to minimize movement

upside down view of crossover with all the weird bends on the drivers side

The whole system fabbed and ready to be Tig welded together. I purchased a Flowmaster U-fit kit with lots of bends but it was still a lot of work to go that big all the way back.

Did the kit have enough to do all of that or did you purchase extra bends? Looks great.

The kit had enough bends. I made a couple of miscuts but still had one bend I didn't use. Because I have a crew cab I bought 2 extra pieces of straight pipe and needed them. If you don't need the size I would get the 2-1/2 kit the 3" was a challenge that I may not have needed.
