So Truck is almost completely disassembled , the front clip , hood and bed have all been dustless blasted and primed , 03 lariat seats modified and installed, headers installed on mock-up block with built NV 4500 and 3" stainless dual exhaust fabbed , cross members and steel surround for 33 gallon rear mount plastic tank fabbed.
Best of all is a crazy sexy 496 cubic inch cross bolted side oiler FE motor waiting to bring the beast to life.
I know I know No pictures No Proof I will attempt to update this thread in the next few days with plenty of pictures ! 😊

I have an aftermarket Genesis Siamese bore block which is currently at a 4.130 bore running a forged Scat stroker crank with a 4.250 stroke
The block can be bored even larger

Pulled the front clip in preparation of pulling the 1970 429 with DOVE heads that was in the truck when I got it. Not a bad engine just not an FE

When I bought the truck it was running and driving and I started upgrading things. Some of the first were power steering and power disc brakes. I was enjoying the heck out of driving my beast but knew that the plan was to make a road and road trip worthy daily driver with modern safety and amenities. I had originally contemplated a diesel swap. That changed when I got the Marti report I saw that there were only 524 crewcab 4x4 trucks made in 1969 and mine had factory air!!! I started to rethink that plan and started looking for an FE motor. I Have been driving diesel fords since 1997 and am spoiled by the torque and power especially since I pull trailers all the time. I knew that if I was going to happy with a gasser it would have to have TORQUE and power. At the point in this journey that these photos were taken I had found a 1969 428CJ motor that I had planned on using.

Years ago I built 66 ranchero that would pull the front wheels of the ground. It was running a 390 with a 428 crank and 427 medium riser heads with 427 dual quad manifold. It was a VERY fun car/truck !! So i have had some experience building high performance FE stroker motors. Fast forward to now and I came across a company called Survival Motorsports , they are experts on all things FE . They build motors and sell parts and even have their own line of cylinder heads. One of the things I saw on their site was stroker kits and that planted the seed. The plan for the 428CJ was to use a Scat 4.250 stroker crank and rods with would yield 465 cubic inches of FE mightiness ! lots of stroke = TORQUE with a side order of power !! I was waffling back and forth between using the CJ heads or Edelbrock aluminum heads . Having had and fought to tune a dual quad set up I wasn't heading down that dark path again, I want hop in and go drivability so after much deliberation decided to use and Edelbrock tuned port injection set up. So with a numbers matching 1969 428CJ out of a GT Torino I took the engine to the machine shop to do their magic and got myself a junk 360 block so I could mock up the tranny and build the exhaust.

You should put a doubler in front of the NP205 and triple stick it. With a 5.61 1st (NV4500), 1.96 from the NP205 and either a 2.0 or 2.7 (NP203 or Behemouth Drivetrain with BW gears) a doubler would put you at least at a 22:1 ratio before your axle. Could be a lot of fun as a crawler. I plan on running the Torque splitter (over drive), NP435 (6.2 1st gear), Behemouth Drivetrain doubler with BW gears (2.7:1), and a NP205 (1.96:1) transfercase. So 5 stickshifts for a total of 32 gears if I wanted it. HA! But really, with 4:10 gears and 40" tires, crawling with a ratio of 134:1 will be fun.

Barry does great work! I had him machine the block I'll be using for my 71 restomod. It's a 390 stroked out to 444 cu. in. with Edelbrock heads and their Pro-Flo 4 EFI system. I went with a Lunati Hyd. Roller cam for the lower end torque, so it should be a fun motor. Keep the posts coming, you're doing well on your build.

Cool build. Sucks about the 429, but glad to see you are still working on it. I'll be watching what you do moving forward. I've got a F-100 standard cab 4x4, but have the similar goals. Not going to go as extreme on the engine, but plan to have a stout 410 or something in the future and am considering the same transmission & transfer case combo.

So is the motor a 496 or a 465?
A lower rpm torque build or high rpm hp? Are you going to port the edel heads? What cam? Looks like the edel PF4 is a single plane (victor) manifold for high rpm use.
Perhaps I'm a little jealous of such a bad *** FE...
Why the divorced t-case? you have gone so far with everything else.

A couple posts up I stated that I had a 428 CJ that I planned on using. After a few weeks waiting in line for some attention at the machine shop I got disappointing news. When they did a sonic check for wall thickness , I was not comfortable with doing a high HP build with that block. When I say High HP My goal is 600+ HP with 625 Torque . So the search for a High HP FE continued.
Much sadness ensued both emotionally and to my wallet.
The end result is currently 496 Cubes
I will post pictures of the MEGA FE that I got soon. It is not usable for my purpose in its current state . The motor was in a 7 or 8 second mustang , full race 14 to 1 compression .800 lift intake and exhaust Ports big enough to swallow your arm or at least small gophers!!
