What would you like to improve over your current 4 speed? I have an NP435 with 4.10 rear and am considering a gear vendor overdrive for interstate driving. They're expensive but known for strength and durability. Some guys have swapped to an NV4500 (requires an adaptor) and other guys have went to a TKO. Both would likely be good for your scenario. There is also an overdrive box by advance adaptor which requires you cut the snout on say a NP435.
If you won't be towing much, going to a lower rear ratio may suffice.

Might want to post what size tires you're running here. 4.10 may not be all that bad on the freeway with tall tires.

Get car 390 pistons with a 1.77" (approx.) compression height. Truck 390 pistons are 1.66" compression height for that low, low, low compression Ford (and everyone else) liked in truck engines. If you aren't going to tow or haul massive loads over mountain passes, the 9.5ish compression will work in your favor on all fronts in your rebuild. Serving suggestion.
