Guys, I have a 79 F250 with 4" lift and 35's. I really don't have the money to rent a garage for winter storage. Can anyone recommend a portable garage? I have searched countless portable garages and the reviews are all over the place. I live in New England so removing snow from the roof of a portable garage will need to be done. I know they don't last forever but am hoping to get a few years out of one. I also thought of a cover which would be the cheapest alternative. Any help would be great .
I had a Shelter Logic portable garage in Alaska that I kept my boat in. I had it up for six years before I sold the place. Absolutely no problems from snow or wind. I think it was a "garage in a box" model as opposed to a "canopy" or similar lighter structure. The snow pretty much just slipped off the sides, so you need to occasionally just remove the build up with a snow blower or the like.
Prior to the Shelter Logic shelter, I had an inexpensive Costco unit that didn't make a winter. The frame collapsed into a twisted mess. The biggest thing that I learned is that whatever you buy, it has to be well anchored. I had the Shelter Logic unit anchor bolted to our existing concrete driveway.
What Juneaudave said. Love my Shelter Logic. Plenty long wide and high but the entrance could be larger. Just measured mine and 78 inches high is about the limit for my unit. Perhaps this has been addressed since I bought mine 4 years ago. Of course I have no idea how tall your truck is.
(#25757 & #25775) from Tractor Supply and set it up in a few hours by myself the day before the first snow of the season. It's only 10' x 20' so it's a little cramped but i've expanded the footprint somewhat and installed wooden stakes in the ground. It's already been through some pretty heavy wind and plenty of rain and it's held up fine so far.
The top of the door opening is 77" from the ground, the lowest end of the roof tube is 82" and the peak is about 112".
I also bought a propane heater as i intend to work on my truck through the winter months. I live in New Hampshire.
