can anybody tell me exactly what the buttons surrounding the six upfitter switches are [ 2019 XL/STX], I would imagine courtesy lights, and after that I am at a loss...also, is there any published guide to using the upfitter switches, I don't yet have the vehicle so didn't check the manual, I have read on this site that they are set up to be accessed on the driver side under the hood, and read that there are passenger side pass-through wires that can be used to bring-back-in an upfitter switched feed...thank you.
When you find the wires on the driver's side one of them has a label identifying the colors and how much of a load they can do. From memory those other switches are for right or left or both courtesy lights, don't have the truck with me to take a look. The pass through wires are in the passenger kick panel and I think they are there for adding snow plow controls, but can be used for anything you want.
From the manual: When switched on, the auxiliary switches provide electrical battery power for a variety of personal or commercial uses.
Switches 1 through 4 provide 25 amps.
Switches 5 and 6 provide 40 amps.
Search for Q-252, that Ford bulletin will tell you everything you need to know about the upfitter switches.
According to the owners manual, there are 3 different configurations of light switches. The outer ones are the
map lights, the others are usually all lights on, all lights off or door function.
Thanks, Turbo Dog...so, say I want to power a CB radio to be powered only when the ignition is ON...I find a 25A (the smallest I believe) upfitter wireunder the hood, find a pass-through wire on the opposite side of the engine bay, jump the two, connect my CB radio 'hot' to the 'other end' of that same pass through wire under the dashboard, ground the CB radio under the dashboard and I am all set...correct? I assume that I can leave that one upfitter switch in the ON position indefinitely as it will power-off when I shut down the engine ?

The buttons surrounding the up fitters are the lights, along with the moon roof and shade controls and the power slider controls, i would assume that all of the panels are made as "knock outs" so if you don't have any of those options there wont be anything in there

What you say is correct. However, there are other options. You don't need to use the pass-through wires on the passenger side if you don't want...there is a large grommet on the driver's side that passes through the firewall. You could just run wiring through that instead of over and through. It saves one connection. I will note that both the pass through wires and the grommet are difficult to use. The pass-through wires have very little slack and are in a hard-to-reach space. The grommet was also very hard to get a wire through. However, I have both in use now.
You could skip the upfitter switch for the CB and just connect it to the PTO wire in the blunt-cut bundle, which supplies 12V when the engine is running without an upfitter.
As another note, switches 5 & 6 (the 40-amp ones) can be set to only supply power with the vehicle running or supply power at all times. There is a jumper fuse in the driver's side underhood upfitter box which you can move to position 1 or 2 depending on what you want. By default, all switches do not supply power with the engine off.
Thanks, Troverman, and for this tip that I had not thought-of: You could skip the upfitter switch for the CB and just connect it to the PTO wire in the blunt-cut bundle, which supplies 12V when the engine is running without an upfitter.
