Dash lights

Well all my dash lights worked yesterday, I put in my radio and now none of them work. No flicker or anything. if i put power on the main wire with an alligator clip all the lights turn on but nothing happens when i turn on the headlight switch. The switch is new but could I have burned the dimmer or something in the switch? all other lights work

From where did you source power to the radio?

Not to be a wise apple, but do the lights work when you turn the radio on?

Did you mistake the BLUE with RED stripe wire in the radio pigtail for ground?

I assume you have since corrected the problem, removing the previous connection to the BLUE with RED stripe wire and grounding the radio to the dash properly?

With the headlight switch pulled out to one of the two stops, turn the **** all the way counter clockwise just before it clicks into place to turn on the dome light, and check for power on BOTH sides of the instrument panel illumination fuse. How were you checking it previously?

It's in the fuse panel. It's one of the shorter ones and should be labelled something along the lines of "INST ILLUM", etc.
