Anyone had to remove a sidewindow from a bronco ii mine is a bolt in it broke... Have one given to me but cannot get the darn thing to release from body Any suggestions?
yeah ! you got ur bolts out ? get like a pice of wire or one of thoes wire saws and poke it between the body and the window frame/seal/glue/that really really hard stuff ford used and saw your way around it . takes a bit of time but i found it easy / or use like a hacksaw blade
The sealing rubber that they use is really sticky. Since the frame is pretty stiff and held in with nuts, I loosened the top nuts and removed all the others, just so it wouldn't all of a sudden fall out. I used a big old carving knife and just kept cutting and gently prying that frame loose. I also used a hair drier to help soften that sealing rubber.
The wire trick is also a good way to go, but it just takes time and a lot patience because that stuff is just plain nasty. I didn't seal mine properly and will have to do it all over again, and I don't look forward to it.
Tried all the different ways Still a no go.. Darn thing wouldnt budge for the life of the window..Darn ford and there glue..If this helps anyone else the 87 had foam insted of glue on the one that was already removed at the wreaking yard.. On the way home stoped by a glass shop next to the wrecking yard they had one for fifty bucks..
OK, you removed the interior trim all around the window?
You removed ALL the nuts holding in the frame?
Since the window is already broke, you won't need to worry about excessive flex that would shatter the window. If the sealer is sticky and gets all over everything, it's only uncured rubber and it will come out. Work around it with a couple of stiff putty blades, but use a hairdrier to soften the sealer. It's not going to just pop out for you. It took me like 2 hours to eventually work it loose.
Check to see if it's silicon rubber. That will be resiliant and not sticky and messy. If it's silicon, that will requier that it be cut all the way around.
Now get back to work and get that frame out! We don't want to hear that you wussed out and paid a shop to do it.
lol ...man that thing must have been cemented in .. when i took my window out just a while ago it came out in about a half an hour after the trim and nuts were off .. i used the wire saw to get mine out .
