im looking for a tool i saw on trucks tv. it hooks up to an average cherry picker, and you can pull a complete pickup box off your truck all by your self!!! has any one seen this, ive seen this used on "trucks" but the web site doesnt list anything for it or a link to any site about it.
i remember seeing that .. the same company had all kinds of lifts to hold just about every body part. it seems like they would be pretty easy to make. i just did a search and found this: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...oductId=383267

I made one from 3 2x4's. Two go across the box (on edge), one in front of the inner fenders and the other behind (trimmed to fit under the top rail). The third is cut into 2 pieces about 18 - 24" long which are screwed a foot apart between the 2 which go across. You end up with an "H" shaped frame you can sling from if you wrap a cable or chain around the center of the "H". I assemble it once I get the cross pieces in or it won't fit. Works slick and cost less than 10 bucks.
You may want to check out the autobody toolmart. They have 1 in their catalog, expensive though. Listed for $300. Lot of auto body supplies, and other interesting stuff.
I made one out of 2 X 4's also similar to 460f250's. You kinda have to make it fit whatever style pickup box you're working on.
The tricky part was finding the balance point so the thing would lift straight up. I used a big 1/2" eye bolt and a huge washer to hook the chain to. I re-drilled the hole about 3-times before I found the exact balance point.
