I just finished my first Chile Challenge off road event with my 68. It convinced me i need to look into power steering and ditch the manual box. There are plenty to look at out there as far as kits go. I have built P/S on other trucks like the m715. So it has me thinking what trucks that may be in junk yards that i could go get one out of. There are not many any kind of Broncos old and 78-96 out there at all around here. But, what about the bull nose p/ups or even the older pre-EFI trucks. Has anyone junked out one of these for an EB.?
the F150'd B fine. Get a caned ham to go w/the PS bx. Not sure what lines or sz shive. May B grab the whole thing and when installed measure for custom (or 1 of the typical vendor's) hoses. (My 6 cyl's came frm a '77 bent8 bronk. Fabed my own scary lookin bracket). Chuck at BCB could advise on the phone for what he uses (may B a certain yr F250?). He advised me 2, 3 decades ago B4 movin to TX about rear discs. I assume U have an 8 so the bracketry should B easier:

Pirate often has attitude but U can run into some1 who's not too bad sometimes.
Look on CB's tech pages - there may B a write up avoiding the necessity of a post (just look in their Tech Articles.
Buying the kits frm the vendors is convienient but just too expensive 4 this guy. Most aren't set up 4 my 4L either.
What sz tires will U have?
Y not use what U got on the M715? That way U can keep consistent 4 prts/repair/maintenance...
I have the 235-75-15 pretty much stock with aggressive tread. Aired down they have been fine. The M/Ts rubbed and the pavement ate them up so went back to A/Ts.
the m-715 has a GM gear box and the standard old style GM pump with a little bigger pulley. Even the 40’s on the 715 are sometimes a chore even with P/Steering. I do not know if a GM gear box will fit the EB. I guess it would with enuf work.
"...I guess it would with enuf work." Yeah, but U don't wanna fund some1s entire nxt 2 yr's mortgage.
get in-touch w/West Tx Off Rd dot com.. The EB community has used them 4 yrs for rebuilding their boxes, doin the 4X2 conversion and much much more.
They may tell U or ur mechanic how to use the GM so as to have ur whole house (fleet) in order...
4x4 Box
The main box you'll need comes from a 78/79 Bronco or 76-79 F150 4X4.
4x2 Box
It's actually a misconception that this box has to come from a 4X2. There is a long list of vehicles this box can be found in, including everything from Rangers to F450s, regardless of 4WD or 2WD:

Since you are JY looking ever think about Hydro-Boost? Ck 1972/79 Lincoln/Continental Marks / 1972/76 Thunderbird / 1973/78 LTD/Mercury Marquis/Grand Marquis (some) / 1975/80 Granada/Monarch & 1977/80 Lincoln Versailles (some).
ALL use the Saginaw P/S pump that resembles a canned ham. Saginaw pump also used on all 1975/91 Econolines.
They work good. Set one up before but not on a EB.
only thing I don’t like about them is how easily they dent if you try to pry on them. So that is a nono.

U beast!
Got a 'car guy' of-nother-sort in my neighborhood (porches, P1800, etc). Lookin @ his Rolls I ask to C under the hood. As we stand @
the frnt bumper I C the sagie PS pump under there...8^0
so I ask abt it, he sez "Y improve on the best. Mr Royce said 'only the best'."
I'd agree. They make some of the best AC systems as well. I'm still a ford guy tho.
Swapin in minor components doesn't bother me but...
rear ends, motors, etc seems a lill odd. I'll use an HEI 4 prong in place of my DSII brain if/when it dies (I'd use a mopar 'orange bx' too), I
put el dorado discs in the rear w/redrilled cj rotors, I bought a junker so I could get the bronk D44/discs up frnt. If some1 gave me the AA adapter
CAD I would have had some1 machine up 1 for a ford 5 speed (ZF) but hadda use the '00 - '04 cj tranny. Each chance I seek oem ford solutions to
wrk-around problems (the tilt wheel is frm last ford yr 4 on dash ign key, bench seat is not frm a bronk - who's got $600 for an 45 yr ol lump, and so on).
Sometimes its a challenge but I like that. Not proud I've "taken the easy way out" on some of my components. I'd like to stay true blue all the way, may B nxt X?
Got a Dentist friend up the valley a ways. Swears but the Borgeson set up. Have to go look. Cant quite remember all his stuff. But i thought it odd to see rack and pinion on his 67 Shelby tribute car with 650 HP. But i guess deep pockets mean buy what works and then what.......
Is maybe 2.5 turns to quick for crawling? I have been over some LARGE rocks with stock wheels and tire sizes but do have a 1.5 “ body lift. I will not cut this truck to get bigger tires under it. I do have the pulleys already so that helps. In reading thru their web page i did not see that it was identified as Borgeson. But ill take your word for it. They are priced a better than most i have searched.
