I have a 65 styleside longbed. There was a auxiliary fuel tank located between the driver's door and the rear wheel that had rotted away and has been removed. The
bedside seems to flap around now and as the other side of the truck has the storage box I have nothing to compare it to. My question is was there some kind of brace in place
at one time and possibly removed when the second gas tank was installed.
Hey - I have those straps as part of my truck. I had to remove the bed floor above them and replace. It's not exactly what you're looking for, but I've show how my brackets are set and talk a tiny bit about what to watch for on a few of my YT videos. I apologize for the quality and the annoying sound of my voice, but it might help you. I've been lazy putting out more, just focusing on working for right now:
You could just use a piece of 3/4" square tube and fab one up. Cut 2 3" pieces one for bed side and one for bed floor side and run a piece on a 45* angle from one to the other and weld up. Ask me how I know? lol when I did my truck I got all demo happy and riper mine out and thru them away and had to build some to fix it so the sides would run straight
