I have an xlt with standard mirrors and would like to upgrade to the mirrors from a lariat that swivel in. Is this possible or does it require a different harness and switch to make it work. Any other options?
Since its an xlt it will be complicated .... you'll need to change your switches on the driver door, the wires are not there so youll need to do that as well ... and for that one i'm not sure but i think its connected to a computer of some sort.
Nowdays, adding options from an upper trim level seems harder than it use to be for a number of reasons. when i was shopping for my f150 I did considered buying an xlt and just add 2-3 option after the fact but after some research i realised how complicated it would be so i just went for the lariat..
The swap isn't hard but its expensive. There is aftermarket power folding mirror options also. If you want factory plan on 1500.00 to do it. You need the mirrors, door harnesses, door DDM's , ability to program the as built data and door switch.
I wanted all the goodies for my 2017 XLT also but settled for these: https://www.powerstrokeplus.com/oem-...or-jl3z17696ba
They have powered adjust, heat, and signal lights; but manual fold and extend. They are OEM and are great. Once you go to the large mirrors you won't want to go back to the tiny mirrors. They are available from many dealers, but I found that this site was overall cheaper even after the shipping charge. Took about a 9 days for the mirrors to arrive after ordering. Take care.
