While various federal agencies hem-and-haw about a substance that over 60% of Americans support legalizing, veterans struggle every day and other countries like Canada and Israel are taking the lead on medicinal cannabis research. Even though dozens of states have legalized marijuana, and ten have gone as far as legalizing recreational adult use marijuana, veterans looking for care through the V.A. are being hamstrung by federal prohibition.

The bulk of the attention on veteran’s health centers around PTSD, but veterans suffer from disproportionately higher rates of other diseases, as well. Statistically, veterans had higher rates of cancer between 2015 and 2016, perhaps due to the exposure to carcinogenic and radioactive materials like “Agent Orange” in Vietnam and nuclear weapons. Furthermore, almost two-thirds of U.S. military veterans report chronic pain. Medical marijuana has a long history of helping treat these diseases, and it can provide a much safer approach to treatment than high-powered pharmaceuticals like opioids.

“We have a disconnect in care. The V.A. has funded lots of marijuana studies, but not of therapeutic potential. All the work has been related to problems of use.”

To illustrate how out-of-step the V.A. is with veterans, consider this recent survey from the American Legion: among veterans, 92% support research into medical cannabis and 83% support legalizing medical cannabis—a much higher rate than the broader populace.

hundreds of veterans have publicly testified that cannabis access has saved their lives after being driven to near-suicide under a pharmaceutical load of dozens of pills a day

“The bottom line is that cannabis prohibition is killing veterans,”

"Scientists, doctors, and your military veterans are screaming for leadership on this subject, in hopes that this plant might be taken seriously and given the deep scientific research it deserves," Doug Distaso, executive director of the Veterans Cannabis Project said. "We hope that happens. Veteran lives depend on it. We are literally dying for it."

It's been more than a year since cannabis was legalized in Canada, and now new options for its use are hitting the market in Calgary. Marijuana edibles became available in some stores across the city on Monday. More businesses will follow suit in the coming days as deliveries will fill the shelves with gummies, chocolates, cookies and mints.

They coined that ^ Cannabis 2.0. Something else I see interesting is this one;

A recently published article in the journal Scientific Reports has described the remarkable discovery of a previously unknown cannabinoid. Dubbed THCP, the molecule has been shown to be significantly more potent that its well-known counterpart THC, however, it’s still unclear how psychoactive it is in humans or how present it is in popular cannabis varieties.

As for investing, we haven't seen the kind of brutal torture in 2019 cannabis investing since the likes of the police towards the Indians at standing rock!
Here's to hoping for a better future in 2020 for pot stocks.

Oh yeah and here in the states of course too,things are slowly gaining.Here's the states to watch;
https://mjbizdaily.com/several-state...is-sales-2020/

They're working on some laws and such just to summarize, that will basically make the drug legal here for banking and at the state level but rather than all out at the federal level, basically what they're up to is,is saying,if the states will allow it (which of course all will eventually, the writing's on the wall there) they will leave federal enforcement against it out of that state. This way the states gain the most profits and it all doesn't get get exported being "federally banned" still haha.

That's a crude little summary anyway for those just passively interested.State by state it's getting there.

A compound made by cannabis plants has been found to wipe out drug-resistant bacteria, raising hopes of a new weapon in the fight against superbugs.

Scientists screened five cannabis compounds for their antibiotic properties and found that one, cannabigerol (CBG), was particularly potent at killing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), one of the most common hospital superbugs.

“These are likely made as a defence mechanism to protect the plant from bacterial and fungal infections, but to date have not been very useful for human infections as they really only work outside the body,” he said. “That’s what makes this new report potentially exciting – evidence that cannabigerol is able to treat a systemic infection in mice.”

A new study has highlighted the effectiveness of cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis for pain relief in women suffering with endometriosis, leading to a clinical trial launching in Spain.

I don't see the author's name listed -

Endometriosis is a common, chronic and painful disease caused when the lining of the womb – the endometrium – grows outside of the womb cavity. These growths affect reproductive organs and can cause pain, infertility, anxiety, depression and result in a considerable impact on quality of life.

“Since medical THC is available in some countries, the findings of our study may be of interest for gynecologists and pain specialists who manage the treatment of women with endometrial pain.”

Finally, the team studied the effects of THC on the endometrium inside and outside of the womb, and found that mice with endometriosis treated with THC for 32 days had smaller endometrial growths.

Alejandra Escudero-Lara, a PhD student at the University Pompeu Fabra of Barcelona, said: “Together, our findings show that THC limits the development and symptoms of endometriosis in an experimental model, and highlight the interest of conducting further research to ensure the safety and beneficial effects of this treatment in women with endometriosis.”

The Cherokee Nation plans to create a working group to study how the tribe might get involved in the burgeoning hemp and cannabis industries.

The Associated Press-

“I believe there are opportunities for the Cherokee Nation, our businesses, and our citizens to benefit from this emerging industry,” Hoskin said. “But, we need to move forward carefully and responsibly and in absolute strict adherence to the law in order to ensure success and sustainability.”

Local Australian Marijuana Legalization Law Takes Effect This Week

New Frontier Data -

Native American tribes are looking at hemp as a tool for economic development. By and large, Native American communities have not benefited from the broader U.S. economic recovery which has led to historic low unemployment, even among low-wage workers. Many Native American communities have seen significant, long-termed structural unemployment, and are wondering whether cannabis can provide some substantive relief.

The Navajo Nation is the country's largest Native American tribe (including more than 367,000 members), with more than two-thirds (68%) living on tribal lands. While the tribe has access to many natural resources, the Navajo Nation's unemployment rate exceeds 50% while the overall U.S. average stands at 3.5%.

"Native American communities are really struggling right now, and are looking for options to increase employment and labor participation outside of traditional industries. Legal cannabis is one option among many that may be quickly deployed to drive economic and employment activity. Tribes have more flexibility in some circumstances to implement favorable local permitting and zoning policies that can put them at a competitive advantage relative to the other regulated hemp programs in their states at large."

Scientists claim to have made a huge breakthrough in the search for a coronavirus treatment - in the form of cannabis. Scientists from the University of Lethbridge claim to have found strong strains of cannabis that could help prevent and then treat COVID-19. They say that the strains appear to affect the ACE2 pathways that the virus uses as a gateway to the body.

“We were totally stunned at first, and then we were really happy.”

Cannabis company stocks are skyrocketing as investors are high on new hopes that marijuana might help ward off the deadly coronavirus.

Shares in major pot firms climbed in late trading Thursday after The Post reported on a Canadian study showing that certain strains of cannabis may help prevent COVID-19 from entering host cells.

https://nypost.com/2020/05/22/cannab...f-coronavirus/

“The key thing is not that any cannabis you would pick up at the store will do the trick,” Olga told CTV, with the study suggesting just a handful of more than 800 varieties of sativa seemed to help.

All were high in anti-inflammatory CBD — but low in THC, the part that produces the cannabis high.

Studies finds that enzymes in cannabis may be able to treat COVID-19. Researchers at the University of Lethbridge recently released results from a study that shows the benefits of CBD as an aid in blocking the cells that enter the body from the novel coronavirus. The study is a partnership among the university, Pathway, which works to develop cannabis therapies to treat specific diseases, and cannabinoid-based oral health company Swysh Inc.

The researchers at U of L conducted a study using artificial 3D models of oral, airway and intestinal tissues coupled with a limited sample of high CBD Cannabis sativa extracts, modulate ACE2 gene expression and ACE2 protein levels. The results indicated hemp extracts high in CBD may help block proteins that provide a “gateway” for COVID-19 to enter host cells. The speaker will elaborate.

There is no magic live forever without pain goddess out there.
If you're dying of cancer get ready for an excruciating ordeal.
Maybe mostly those in intense pain don't have to cash out,
be shut down due to overdosed on Obits? Relaxed with
intense pain is a good deal to have. Just toke a good day.
far less expensive than the obvious prescriptions

Sure, your Local Drug Dealer at the Drug store is gonna waste you!

It's a bit sad that the V.A. in the U.S. hasn't caught up yet, especially when so many veterans could benefit from medical cannabis.
