I have a problem with my C6, and it goes like this. I can shift thru the complete gear range, forward and back with no trouble..IF THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING..but with the engine running when I down shift to low and come back up to drive it will not go back to neutral, I disconnected the shifter and it did not change anything, so I know its not a linkage problem. As soon as I turn the engine off, everything is just fine. I've changed valve bodies and its the same, SO does anyone have any suggestions? It's really a pain to have to stop and shut down just to get back to reverse and driving without neutral is scary to say the least
Thanks
It will not shift in to neutral, until you shut the engine off. Its really weird...I think I have come up with a possible answer, only thing I can think of that would have such a strong hold on it is the lever for the parking pawl is somehow getting stuck and stopping the shift linkage from moving forward,.. I just can not imagine the trans having that much fluid pressure that the shift lever can't be moved even with a cheater bar..Plan to drop the pan soon and will see what I see.
Dropped the pan, did not find anything that was causing the problem, went to a couple of "trans experts" and they are stumped, but for a price they will "LOOK" inside it. Well hell for their price I'll just buy another trans....
