Rear shock mount location. HELP!!

Hey guys! Well, I guess I didn't take enough pictures when I disassembled "the Beast". I am swapping out the stock rear for a Ford 9" rear. The 9" came out of a '62 F-100. I am putting it into a '53 F-250. My old rear end had no shock mounts, but the new one does. (welded right onto the housing) I know that the top end of the shock bolts up under the frame. Will I bolt the bottom end into the shock mounts on the new 9" rear, or do they need to go elsewhere. I already sandblasted the housing and was going to take it to be powder coated when I noticed the difference. Where did the bottoms of the shocks used to bolt in? I only had one left on the truck when I got it, and as I remember it was dangling from the frame. Thanks everybody! T

The lower end should go to the U-bolt cap as shown in the figure below.

Shock mounting Studs?

Anyone know if the upper and lower shock mounting studs are available anywhere?

The 9" tube is larger than the Dana 44 tube. Some of the late '50's early '60's trucks used this type of mount. Otherwise you can get them aftermarket.

I welded my shock mounts in the same location that the rearend clamps had placed the shocks originally. but I did measure the hold down for the rear end on my f3 and it seems like it would fit the 9" exactly.. Good luck Ed ke6bnl

Ed, I think the tube on your F-3 is the same as a 9", but the F-1 with the Dana 44 has a smaller tube.
