So I have a question. Here latley I hear a disc on disc sound when taking off in first l, it's the same noise it makes if I try and down shift too soon, but it does not make the noise taking off in low

It kinda sounds like a noisey speedo I know it's not but that's what it sounds like, also in the morning it shifts through the gears easy as can be when it has been drive a while it is semi hard from a stop to go in first or reverse?

Sometimes when driving if you are say going 65 and come come to a stop in a hurry and want to throw it in reverse or does not want to go, but when the truck is cold or has sat for a while it will easly go into any gear, and driving it shifts great no troubles

I remember having a hellofatime finding L and reverse and sonetimes 1st after awhile of driving. I DREADED traffic because of it Wasnt until i changed clutch fork to the updated one along with an entire new clutch assy, that it made shifting much easier

Occasionally I will have to roll forward or backward (a few inches to 1 foot or so, not much) to get the truck into low or reverse and rarely 1st, but it does happen. This has been my experience with any manual transmission I have driven in any vehicle though.

How long have you had the truck?

Did the previous owner say if he saw or was told the condition of the clutch fork?

What sort of clutch did he put in it?

Was the flywheel replaced or resurfaced?

Did the transmission make this noise when you bought the truck? Did the previous owner mention anything about it, even if it was BS?

I would ask about the fluid as well to see if he remembers or cared to remember?

If you are still unsure, you could do a fluid change to a quality fluid (I have used Amsoil ATF, Redline MTF and now on Redline High Temp ATF which I really like) to be sure that is not the problem. Check the easy things first, then go on to the surgery if required.

Need more information here before we can offer advice. If you can get a video of the sound, that would be even better.

We would like to help, but having all of the pieces to the puzzle helps to solve it...

It did not make the noise when I first got it that I can remeber, have had it since Feb, i have never had to let it roll forward before to get it into gear, and I asked what kind of oil and he said tbe valvoline high milage for transmission (he maybe blowing smoke) he does not remeber amything else since it has been so long. I will work on getting a video of the noise but it is the same noise that it make say if you goto downshift into a lower gear and it's not ready to go into that gear

I am assuming it's the clutch I went to put it in reverse and it did not want to go, had to shut the truck off to get it in gear, but when I was trying to get it in gear and was pushing in reverse the truck was trying to move backwards
