iHello- just ac blows cold first thing in morning, but once the engine gets hot and I shut the motor off, when I restart the clutch will not engage. I took this picture first thing this morning. No air gap to speak of. This compressor was installed in mid 2016 and has a warrantee. I forwarded this picture to the tech and he said lets replace the clutch. Also could I shim this? I'd hate to void the warrantee but it was 92 today.
Question is should I insist on a whole compressor- has it been compromised by this failure?

Tim if it’s still under Warrantee, I’d get it replaced, trying to shim it could void the warentee and putting the whole cost back on you .hope this helps.
The compressor is fine, replacing the clutch or shiming the gap is fine and has been standard practice since 1993 when these pumps debuted. The clutches have always been the weakest point. If it's under warranty let them fix it.
