That's awesome. I had 3.00s in my '81 and it originally had the SROD overdrive transmission. It was pretty doggy.
I had a 300/SROD/2.46 rear; talk about doggy! IDK what those Ford engineers were thinking, but it was useless, I couldn't do 4th gear until 70 or so, and even then it had no power; a strong wind or small hill would slow it down even with the pedal to the metal.
Fortunately, my '81 had a 9", so found a used 3.50 gear 3rd member on CL (or "chunk" as we say here), and it's much better! I think if I go back to a non OD trans, would still stick with a 3.25 ratio.

thats how my truck is now! I have downshift to 3rd and whine up the rpms so i could make it go!
