So my truck has no sun visors, so I’m looking to order a new set. The picture below is a bit confusing and I can’t find a definitive picture or video online that clears things up. My question is whether part #3 (anchor pin) is needed if I am purchasing part #1 (sun visor set). I can’t tell if you are supposed to use the pins that come with the sun visors (the small pins that you see protruding from the inner part of the sun visors (above the #1 in pic below). The included pins look much thinner and smaller than the anchor pins, but perhaps the anchor pins are offered for folks that have the sun visors with bad pins. Can someone help clear things up? Thanks!
I would think that LMC and most vendors sells the visor (#1) with those pins (#3) and the (#4) rubber tips already installed. A phone call to the company and a simple question should tell you what you get with new visors.

You think like I do — I spent 10 minutes on the phone with LMC yesterday and they couldn’t decipher it either. The pins that come with the visors (#1) are much smaller than the ones sold separately (#3). I figured there is someone here that can look at their visors and shed some light.
Dennis Carpenter Sells all pieces. They have option for chrome bracket/arm (not currently in stock) and the bare steel that need painted to match interior color. I have a spare set of White sunvisors in storage, with the bracket/arm but no pins I'd be willing to let go. message me if would be interested.

It says #1 “sun visor without bracket”, not “w/out bracket and pin”. I would assume it comes with the pin and the other listed items are additional.
But for $2.95, I would probably buy the pin too.
agreed. I’ll post some pictures when I get them. I called LMC again and the person i spoke with asked around and the conclusion was that you insert part #3 into part #1. I’m skeptical, but went ahead and ordered both to see if I can figure it out when the parts arrive.
So here are the pics. Still utterly confused. The anchor pins fit nicely into the retainer bracket, but they do not fit into the sun visors due to the metal pins already built into the sun visors. The metal pins are too thin to fit into the retainer bracket. If I place the rubber boot onto the metal pins they fit into the retainer brackets, but the boot does not fit snuggly over the metal pins. They move around easily (see last picture). Anyway, if anyone has the OEM visors with the metal pins, I’d love to know how you’ve got them set up.
I wish I had seen this thread sooner. I went through this last year. I literally ordered all that you did. I tried very hard to remove the metal pin to install the other pin (#3) with no luck. Just like you have shown, the little rubber boot (#4) doesn't fit the metal pin either. So what I have finally did was, use two vacuum plugs (one small to go over the pin and one larger to go over the first one) and it fits securely in the holder (#5). I know this looks a little janky, but it works and I have sunvisors.

thanks for the response. Glad to know I’m not the only one that was confused by this.
Looks like the metal pins are for 60's era trucks, and the plastic pins for mid 70's. They should just pull out, from what I can tell from parts breakdowns. But theory is one thing, and practice can be another.
Other option could be to sleeve the metal pin with something..... heatshrink, tube, hose. Just enough bearing to allow the rubber cap to snug up.
Is the plastic pin hollow? Is the cap removable to check? Snip the tip, and jam it on?

good suggestions. That’s what I was brainstorming as a next step. I’ll give it a try.
I have an original, though with some things broken, 1979 Lariat 150. My sunvisors have the plastic pins in the ends of the visors. One pin is broken off so I ordered (2) pins from LMC. For $2.95 I figured I'd replace both. They came with the rubber caps installed. They're supposed to pull out. I haven't got around to replacement, they're still sitting on my workbench.
