iOS 12.0.1 is out with some BT fixes. Might be worth a try.
HTH,
Jim / crewzer
This is correct; that is one of the fixes of 12.0.1. I haven't been able to update to it yet thought for some reason. I'll definitely be mindful of that possibility as well.
I've noticed my Bluetooth connection has become a lot more spotty. It will just cut out for no discernible reason leading to a jump to a different source and the volume blasting. I am going to see if deleting the connection and re-pairing from scratch resolves the issue. Doing so usually fixes this with other devices in my experience.
I hope i`m wrong but your APIM may be going bad if Bluetooth will just cut out all by itself.
That`s one of the symptoms I`m having hence the reason for ordering a new APIM by my dealer.
I’m definitely still under factory warranty. It’s crazy how it’s acting. But even my husband has finally noticed that the GPS is not working half the time. It’s just frustrating when it doesn’t work. It my primary vehicle and I drive 70 miles round trip 5 days/week
Talked to dealer, he said to bring it by and they’ll look at it and order the APIM as that sounds like the issue😔. But it has to be having the issue when I bring it by.
Shouldn’t be a problem since it only works half the time.

Yes, I`m sure it`ll be acting up in some kind of strange way or doing strange things when you take it in. Going on two weeks now and my new "APIM" still hasn`t come in yet. Being that it`s close to the end of the year as well as ramping up for the 2019 model year vehicles, it might take awhile for it to come in.
Oh no......The red circle around the GPS with the line through it is definitely an APIM problem. That`s one of several problems i`m having and this Monday when I took my vehicle in, they had to order a new APIM so now i`m just dealing with all of the problems until it comes in which they say would be about a week. I`m not sure if you`re having this problem but pay attention to the unbuckled seatbelt light and chime on your dash. Sometimes mine will work after every other shut off and turn on of the vehicle but even when it does work, i`ll check to make sure it`s still operational while driving by unbuckling my seatbelt. The light should come on but it doesn`t. Very frustrating but i`m glad i`m still under warranty because these APIM`s are very expensive. I hope you`re still under warranty as well.
Well...finally went to the dealer with the problem showing. They asked me different questions about updating and asked if we had done a master reset. Explained updates done Wi-Fi and by USB, master reset, phone updated, Waze app deleted and reloaded to phone. They looked at each other and said that we had troubleshooted more than most coming in but this was their 4th APIM issue of the day! Set appointment for next week as it still has to go through diagnostics and then order the part. When the new APIM comes in, then I can return to have it fixed.
It's so frustrating, when it works, usually at 3 am when I'm driving home from work and not needing to voice text or anything, it's great. But when it acts up, if I answer the phone, I lose all use of any hands free controls and from that point on, I am driving in complete silence as I cannot even get the radio to have any volume at all! GGRRRR

Now I didn't have to hear this! They told me they order it and usually in within a day or two. Fingers crossed it's not long.
I hope this is not your case but it might not be your phone and the current iOS update. It sounds like the beginning of APIM problems but I really hope I`m wrong.
can you educate on what is the APIM? And what would be the symptoms if the APIM is not functioning?I’m still learning my truck and not sure if I have any problems. And since I’m not very Tech saavy, I may be using 10-20% of the capabilities of Sync 3 so I may not be observant of any issues.

LOL.....I feel your pain and it`s very frustrating when one can`t do anything with the system......nothing works.
I`m not sure if you`ve don`t this before but this is what I do to regain control and the system will work for a short period of time but it will revert back to acting crazy.
Press and hold the power button and the track forward button at the same time until the screen goes blank and then you can release them. Don`t freak out.....LOL..... this is just a soft reboot of the SYNC 3 system.

Hi Larrymac52, the APIM is basically the brains of the SYNC 3 system and it controls many things such as the radio, Sirius if your vehicle is equipped with it, navigation, climate controls, changing your sources such as AM/FM/ Bluetooth, CD, voice control, phone, etc, etc.
Common symptoms are very laggy or slow to respond touch screen prompts, bluetooth disconnecting, GPS not tracking properly or you`ll see GPS on your screen with a circle around it and a red slash through the GPS letters, backup camera and the sensors acting weird, seatbelt warning not working as it should, and a new one that has just started for me is that when I shut my vehicle off, get out and lock the doors. the dash lights will go out as they should as well as the courtesy lights but my SYNC 3 screen will stay on as though I`ve never turned it off or exited my vehicle. Also, whatever was playing on the radio or Sirius before I turned my vehicle off, it`ll keep playing. This only last for about 2 minutes after i`ve set the alarm and it eventually turns off but I`ll usually just wait outside my vehicle until it does turn off.

I hope this info helps you out.
Thanks for the info. I can see how this is a big deal and hope if it happens to me, I’m under warranty.
Really makes me wonder how these vehicles are going to hold up after 10-15 years .
Older trucks like my 89 below with just an ecm seem to get corrosion or have capacitors go out that can cause issues, but its fairly easily diagnosed and repaired at home.
My 17 does some random things some times, bluetooth disconnects randomly alot lately, i have the latest ios gps backup cam etc still seems to work ok
I liked the addition of google maps to car play, but turned it back off again, too many down sides for me. I miss ios 10 on my iphone 7 that i could watch videos on sync screen by texting youtube links to myself. LOL
