Something funky then. I THINK my 7 was correct with iOS 12 but I know my Xs is. Had the same issue after connecting to my Polaris General too. Both no longer cause the issue.
I was having a issue with Carplay and Siri being unresponsive when pressing the speak button on the steering wheel. Although it's definitely not the first time a female has ignored me. I couldn't text to talk, request music. It seems to have fixed itself for the most part though.
The phone was already updated when I finally got around to doing the SYNC update earlier this week. The only issue seems to be a random default to FM, no matter that the radio was on Sirius when the truck was shut down. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But zero phone issues so far.
I recently updated to IOS 12 and updated the Sync to version 3. I was later than most. Hadn't realized that my WiFii wasn't connecting. Now, I'm having the same issues you are having. Carplay doesn't even come up anymore, speak button unresponsive, can't text, receive calls or texts. I'm dead in the water.
Deleted the Waze app and reloaded it. That works but thats all. And...It doesn't voice turns or anything. Total silence.
Don't know what to do?

I hope this is not your case but it might not be your phone and the current iOS update. It sounds like the beginning of APIM problems but I really hope I`m wrong.
I'm afraid you're right. It's been very frustrating. One time it works and syncs right up. The next time nothing. Then the next it works. As of yesterday, when it doesn't work, the navigation screen even has a red circle with a line through it over GPS?It's crazy.

Oh no......The red circle around the GPS with the line through it is definitely an APIM problem. That`s one of several problems i`m having and this Monday when I took my vehicle in, they had to order a new APIM so now i`m just dealing with all of the problems until it comes in which they say would be about a week. I`m not sure if you`re having this problem but pay attention to the unbuckled seatbelt light and chime on your dash. Sometimes mine will work after every other shut off and turn on of the vehicle but even when it does work, i`ll check to make sure it`s still operational while driving by unbuckling my seatbelt. The light should come on but it doesn`t. Very frustrating but i`m glad i`m still under warranty because these APIM`s are very expensive. I hope you`re still under warranty as well.
I've noticed my Bluetooth connection has become a lot more spotty. It will just cut out for no discernible reason leading to a jump to a different source and the volume blasting. I am going to see if deleting the connection and re-pairing from scratch resolves the issue. Doing so usually fixes this with other devices in my experience.
