I'm attempting to put the MotorCraft fan clutch on. Issue I ran into is the fan bolts that attach to the clutch are the wrong size? On the old clutch it was 13mm to get off and they are much too thick to go into the new clutch.

Anyone else have this issue?

I suppose the old clutch is a knock off since the new Motorcraft is OEM and thus the bolts were replaced? Looks like I need new bolts unless someone knows something I don't?

Must be the case, I was able to reuse the bolts from the original to the replacement motorcraft.

Unless they sent me the wrong clutch? Do you remember what size bolts you used?

The box it came in was labeled with the correct part but the clutch itself doesnt have the part number on it.

13mm or a sloppy 1/2 inch. Note the last post in that thread.

If your going to R&R the fan without pulling the shroud (or clutch), this will save you aggravation.

Great info, thank you.

The ones I took off were 13mm as well but obviously the diameter was different.

Unfortunately I think he’s talking about the white, plastic fan blade unit.

I went to the pick a part to look for bolts and guess what? Both v10 Ex's had the same size I pulled off my fan. Checked a few expeditions v8s and they were the same size. Checked an f150 and it was the same.

Either they changed the bolt size or i got the wrong clutch in the right box. The front looks identical so I'm guessing they changed the bolt size?

I’d take it to the local hardware store and get 4 new, hardened bolts in the size needed.

Did that on the way home from the pick a part

It was M6.6 bolts. I got 20 mm length I believe, as that was the shortest they had. They should work with the lock washers. But I left town for a few days so it'll be a couple days before I try to mount the fan.
