Does anyone have advice on purchasing a F250 new vs used?
i’m look at a 2018 6.2 with 13,000 miles advertised for $42,000 from the dealership. Original sticker was $45,500 new. it’s a xlt model.
I have never purchased a Ford truck, I know from doing some research some heavy discounts can be had when buying new. If the price is similar I would rather buy new. Only thing is I don’t see any big discounts this month. Also the certified used warranty is very nice if buying used from the dealer. I would love to hear some advice from the members, thanks.

Original MSRP may have been 45,500 but I doubt that it sold for that. Probably closer or below what they are asking for it now.
Almost no reason to buy used that close in year or price to new. The market for used trucks is insane, unless you are buying *realllllllllly used* there's almost no incentive to buy over new when its just a few thousand difference.
I just say this buying used you never know how bad the vehicle was abused. I for one had a mustang I bought new traded in for my truck you bet I hot rodded the **** out of it before I traded it in.
I searched for the last year in the Mpls area for a used F250. Even looked 300 miles away. Simply put it's a joke. 2014 Lariat CC, 53,000 miles and they want $42,500 for it. I was able to order new 19 (same truck) and get it for $46,900.
One of the best deals I found was a 2008 with 108,000 miles for $24,900. That's 10 years old and will rust out.
I'm sure there is a gem out there but I couldn't find it. My new one is scheduled to arrive in 12 days......12 very very long days, lol.
That is not a good deal. My sticker was 46,300 and paid 38,000 for a new 2018. I did have a 3000 PCO on That deal but still as said late model used are high as new, or in that case higher.
Go price out the truck you want on the Ford website. then see what the difference is. I'm betting it isn't much. The used ones don't seem to come down in price and I wonder who buys them. I was shown a 2017 with 24K miles. they wanted 5,000ish more than what I paid for my 2019. But I noticed it wasn't on the lot when I picked up the 19. Somebody bought it?
That was my dilemma for months and after running numbers for various loans and pct rate the payment was damn near close for new vs used...I was lucky enough to have PCO and small rebate at the time so for little bit more money and piece of mind I had a new truck.
Check the Marketplace on this forum...I have a 2017 F250 XLT Premium 4X4 6.2L 3.73 with a $2K stereo upgrade and only about 18K miles on it for sale for $42K
Interest rates may be higher on used, and loan value maybe much less than asking price. Also - I found it to hard to find a used 2017 SD with options I wanted.
Buy new. In fact order one the exact way you want it. That way you don’t pay for options you don’t want and build it exactly the way you want. Plus you will get better finance rates over a used truck and you get a full 3 year warranty.
