I got the activation email today and it was painless to activate. Remote start, lock/unlock remotely, as well as fuel level, tire pressure, oil life, vehicle location (gps) and vehicle health reports. Mobile wifi too
Evidently you can schedule remote starts if you leave at the same time every day so the truck is warmed up.
Curious if anyone else has been using theirs and plans to purchase the data plan after the trial period. Also curious what stops working after the (30 day?) trial period.
I had Ford Pass working (remote start, vehicle location etc) for a week before signing up for the 3GB data plan free trial, I didn't think they were connected.
The fine print on the $20/mo prepaid unlimited data plan says nothing about data speeds or download caps (although it does for the other options e.g. adding on to your current ATT plan), but even if it's for a basic slow Internet it sounds like a bargain. I plan to sign up and can report back.
The hot spot is a separate feature from the ford connect app. On my 2018 Platinum F150 it was a 5 year plan that came with the truck. On the 2019 F350 Platinum I think it is also a 5 year plan for the ford connect app. The hot spot is 90 days or 3gb whichever comes first. After the 90 days or 3 months it is ATT at $20 a month. The Ford connect also will show recalls and an occasional coupons for service discounts.
Vehicles equipped with SYNC Connect: SYNC Connect is an optional feature on select 2017 and newer model year vehicles and includes service for five years from the vehicle sale date as recorded by the dealer

Signed up. Speed tests come back at 10Mbits up and down in my rural area, which is far above basic connectivity. They probably throttle down from LTE to 3G after some number of gigabytes per month.
