Dome Light LED’s MOD

I’ve been wanting to redo the dome light in the truck for awhile. I finally got around to it and figured I’d share what I did.
‘Here’s the link to the LED’s I used, the company has quality products, switches etc: https://www.oznium.com/led-string-mo...-module#photos

Lights are simply secured to liner with the two sided tape provided.

Stock pic of dome light.

I used a scalpel to cut a small slit in liner, then threaded wires through to light base. I added about 8” of wire to the LED wiring.

Make sure you pull wires through the square holes BEFORE adding the eyelets. You can also see how close the bulb sits to wires.

I left the wires between the LED’s visible because it was just easier. I figured if someone doesn’t like it and complains…they can just walk. With the wires located as in picture, the LED’s come on with the door AND dimmer dial on dash.

Both bulbs and LED’s for color comparison. LED’s are COOL WHITE

Stock bulb gets extremely hot. I simply removed it to prevent wiring issues.

Lighting with Stock bulb still installed...

No bulb, ONLY the LED’s used to light cab. The stock bulb being removed makes absolutely no difference in lighting. Picture is from BACK seat.

Sitting in the front seat, there is no glare in my eyes from the side. I’m 6’2” so the seat is set back a bit.

Simply cut wires, I always solder thicker gauge wire to the LED wires, just makes it easier to work with. Here’s the link: https://www.oznium.com/led-string-mo...-module#photos

Curious why you didn't just replace the incandescent bulbs with a plug n play LED bulb instead of splicing wires and cutting your headliner

I've never liked the led bulbs. The LED's I used provide more light too. The headliner has a 1/4" cut, not even visible.

I like it. Not the cleanest install but it works. Older I get the more I like things well lit.

My boat and UTV have this style

but I like the individual units you used. Will pick some up for my next project.
