Pullin bumper to bumper has a lot to do with your vehicles wheelbase. The longer the vehicle the easier it will be to win. Now your fullsize truck will have the advantage there. With the jeep and scout and their short wheelbases i would imagine they will axle hop a bit and this will give you a great advantage also. on dirt the scout might give u a run for it cause all that v-8 weight over his front tire that is pulling too! that is gonna give him some good traction if his tires are decent. if you gotta a good set of tires i wouldnt be afraid to hook up to any of them off the pavement. I have beat v-8s with my I-6 before and they even had one more tire spinning than i did so i say go for it.

I hooked bumpers with an 85 Chevy 1/2 ton 4wd 305 4spd granny and dragged his a$$ like he wasn't back there! With my 84 F150 4wd 300 six 4spd granny. I guess that isn't saying much concidering it was a 305! If I were in your case assuming you only have 2wd. I would put some weight in back, behind the rear axle, maybe 500 lbs or so. Then run about 25lbs of air in your tires. You could even try retarding your ignition for a little more low end. You want tires in back with really good bite. Then when you guys go at it, mash your brakes and hold em til he starts spinnin his tires. Then pop er in granny and finish em off!
