Radar Detector Hard Wire

Hey everyone, I just recently got a new Escort Max360C radar detector. I'm using a mirror mount made by blend mount. Very happy with the install. My question to you all is this. Where would you recommend taping into to "key on" power? I would prefer to not use any of the uplifter switch's. Thank you in advance.

Use a volt meter to determine the correct voltage.

Find a fuse under the dash that only hot with the key on and get a piggy back fuse holder. I think I got mine at Advance. Here's one on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Big-ACU-Add...8AAOSwu4BV0aoC

I was just curious, how many times has the law caught you while using your radar detector?

Why not use a mirror tap? That is what I did with my Max360 and BlendMount. If you search on here, you'll see which wires to tap.

Passenger side kick panel has a bundle of blunt-cut wires. I used Green/Orange wire.

Will this tie it into a uplifter switch? I was looking for constant on when key is on. Thanks

Do you have a photo by chance? I do not have a plug on the backside of my mirror.

One option would be to run a wire all the way to the battery and use an inline fuse. There is also a power stud on the fuse box under the hood you can use. There are "pass through" wires in the kick panel area which end under the hood near the fuse box you can use to get through the fire wall, or you can just run wiring through the grommet on the driver's side behind the e-brake.

A quick search found another thread that said THIS thread on the F150 Forums would help you: http://www.f150forum.com/f118/radar-detector-power-mirror-286079

No, that wire is a switched 12V connection - when the truck is on it will come on- no switches

If you would use that piggy back fuse holder it would come on when the key was turned on and stay on till the key was turned off.

Buy the long power cord from eBay. Go the Best Buy and have them professionally install the detector usually $50 bucks.
The Work is guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle. Is it worth it....? you bet!

MirrorTap is the way to go. There is even a video for F150s that show you the exact wires to tap into. I have installed two of them now.
