First off, I know there's tons of posts on tails, but I haven't seen or even heard of these before. Saw the guy at harbor freight. He was in a 99 econoline 7.3. Just bought it. But one side had this tail light. It had a bulb in it but it didn't turn on. The funny part is the guy didn't even know he had two different tail lights. Anyways, has anyone seen them before? I know I don't know much but I don't think I've ever seen a tail like that on a ford before.
Yep, the Econolines had the three color tails for about 3/4 years, and they will mount up in an EX, but getting the proper function for the lights to work is the challenge. I think Matt M, PA has had them on his pristine EX for several years, looks cool.
WE3ZS is correct....I've had them on my Excursion for years.
I remember driving behind a beat up old Ford Conversion van and seeing the amber taillights, and being annoyed that my Ex didn't have them. I later found out that they were on the E Vans until a certain year...may have been around '94. The only difference was the gasket.
There was a member on these forums that had to install them in his Excursion as he lived in Sweden and amber turn signals were a must. (Well, I think it was Sweden...)
Anyhow, I had to do some wiring and tap into the CHMSL for the brake feed. If memory serves, there was a green wire around the steering column that had to be cut, too. I wound up using a Hoppy trailer lights converter after the trailer brake-stop relays under the hood to make the trailer lights work correctly after the change.
