Is the F250 remote powered tailgate secure? Is there any chance of somebody stealing it? Is there a lock available. I heard on the news some tailgates are thousands of dollars to replace.
You're not going to stop a determined thief, best you can do is slow them down and keep it from being an easy target. The tailgate locks and unlocks with they key fob. If truck is locked, tailgate is locked. I too put a hose clamp on mine. I know it's not going to stop anyone, but it'll slow them down for sure.

I bet these new tailgates are even more with the LED lights, electronic locks, auto down etc.......

Yep. Twenty years ago some moron went though my apartment complex parking lot stealing wheels. He got a bunch of them. He got to my car, pried the center cap off and saw I had wheel locks. He moved on to the next car. Yes, you can defeat wheel locks with relative ease, but the extra time wasn't worth it so he moved on.
I agree !!!! If they want it bad enough , they'll get it !!!! I installed the McGard/Ford lock on mine , may not stop it , but will slow them down . I feel better knowing I did something to help prevent theft !!!!
