Q: (correct me if I am wrong) since the Super Duty lineup appears to offer only trailer towing outside mirrors, and since the 2017+ body style shares cab components with the F150 lineup, is it possible to swap out F350 mirrors with F150 'paddle' style mirrors? I am assuming that the mechanical fit is possible, but what about the electrical connection, I am talking about fairly simple XL mirrors that offer 'power/heated' glass and fold manually.
Separately/additionally, what about the 6/7 camera trailer visibility $700+ option, would the F150 have the same cameras mounted in their mirrors?
The whole issue would be unnecessary if the F350 mirrors would fit close to the body and then telescope outward when needed, I do not need towing width mirrors so the paddle-style mirrors would work well for me...Thank you for your responses.
Let me ask a related question to that of the above, does anybody have knowledge of the Superduty XL/STX mirror mount (where it hinges and mounts to the sail panel at the door)...if I could get in there and shorten the two horizontal shafts (that telescope, and I have seen that the sliding action takes place within the mirror head) that would bring the mirror head closer to the truck. Any thoughts on this? Does anybody have knowledge of what is inside? I am not opposed to fabricating any necessary parts to make this work...is there perhaps a replacement (aftermarket) sail panel and horizontal shaft assembly that I could swap with the same part from the factory? ...thank you.
