Steering hard then easy!!!
2014 F150 Eco Boost 3.5L. 45,000 miles All of a sudden im getting stiff steering just off center when driving just over walking speed, checked steering linkage and all looks fine, the stiff steering is at different point so im assuming its something wrong in rack and its getting worse on my drive home tonight. No codes or lights on dash yet.
1. Is steering rack covered under fords power-train 5 year 60k mile warranty?
2. Can i change the rack and then get alignment or dose it have to be calibrated and programmed by dealer?

I had the same symptoms and changed out the lower steering shaft. That totally resolved the issue. The lower shaft has two u-joints.
One way to check this out is to soak the u-joints with oil. I did that and it solved the problem for a month so I knew this was it.
