So I'm gonna do a front disc swap on my 65 f100, I've seen and read plenty on what older models to pull parts from but I'm looking at buying a new kit. Originally I was looking at a kit from 'master power brakes' that is just a front disc kit. Recently I found a kit from 'classic disc brakes' that is a front and rear and it's only about $100 more then the kit fro. 'Master power. So I'm wondering has anyone used either of these kits? What's the quality to cost comparison? Neither kit looks complete and I'll still have to get some other parts but just wanted to see if anyone else has worked with either of these companies or could recommend a good kit.
I made the same search for disc brake options for our 1965 Ex Military F-100 restoration. Because we will be towing a small custom Camper trailer I decided I wanted the kit with four wheel Disc option. So I ordered the full kit from Classic Disc Brakes. Sadly It was a bad decision and we are very frustrated and disappointed with our choice. We ordered the full kit at the end of June and we still do not have all the components. The company is small and the parts are custom to each application. They are understaffed and over booked. The documentation or instructions for installation and maintenance are almost non existent. The parts have come in multiple shipments with no tracking numbers and no packing lists included. There have been quality issues and we are still waiting for mounting brackets that required replacement because the originals did not fit. That has happened twice. When we try and contact the company, we get endless recordings and never get to a real person. They over promise and underdeliver, quality is not what I would expect and they consistently miss promised ship dates. If I was not 2/3 into the brake install, I would cancel the order. But they also hit my credit card for the full amount 5 minutes after I placed the order back in JUNE. My recommendation would be to stay with a better known AUTO PARTS supplier that can provide front disc equipment off the shelf and forget the rear disc equipment.
Wow! Sorry for your bad experience but thanks for the heads up! Yeah when I was looking at their kit i wasnt overly impressed with it ans it didnt quite look complete. It's really hard to tell sometimes. I bought a rear lowering kit from fatman fabrication for my truck and when I got it I was extremely disappointed with the quality and thats coming from a well known and reputable company. Well I hope you get the problem resolved soon!! Good luck with your project! -Ryan
