I know the 71-79 spindles and parts should fit, but 2 years of searching junkyards and the newspaper for doner trucks has yeilded nothing. It seems most the junkyards around here crush them out.
What I need is a kit, or other sorce of parts to put disk brakes on a 66. anyone make such a kit.
Try here.http://www.mpbrakes.com/.I haven't used them yet but they seemed knowledgeable over the phone.I'm holding out for a donor for my 65 250..Good luck

66Beater,
MP brakes does make a disc conversion kit. I bought one for my 66F100. I also bought the dream beams. The install went well, with no problems mounting both the beams and MP kit. The MP kit is nice because it uses a smaller power booster than the factory original. I bought their rear disc conversion kit for the 9" rear end too. Again, a nice install with no problems. Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for the Link. That looks like exactly what I need. Twice the cost over doing it from a doner truck, but if I haven't found a good doner truck or salvage yard parts in 2 years, I guess it's time to bite the bullet and buy the kit. What are those Dream beams? I didn't find a listing on the MP site for them.
Would not think, in the great state of Texas, there would be problem purchasing from local salvage yard. Called and got couple quote in my area and came to around $1000. Fortunate enough to find in local 'pic n pull' for around $250. Another suggestion, if you have access to ebay, can set it up to be notified by email if truck(s) you are searching for comes up for auction in your area.

Dream Beams are after market Twin I Beams that install on the front end to Lower the truck.

Beater, Do like I did and buy a complete truck. When I got through selling parts that I didn't need, I made back more that I paid for the truck. I got much more than a power steering disc brake upgrade out of the deal too.
It wasn't just luck, because I have done it more than once.
Don't want an engine change, look for one with a blown engine or oil burner. A little smart shopping can pay large dividens.
This may seem like a silly question, but I have a set of '73 F250 twin I-beams to use on a disc brake conversion on my '66 f100. Will the '73 and up 5 lug hub and rotor bolt to the F250 I-beams?
Tonka Toy: If you have a true '64, you cannot use a later truck as a donor for disc brakes. Double check your truck. If it has a single I-beam in front, you cannot use later parts.
If you have an early '65 titled as a '64 (with twin I-beams), yes, you can can use a later donor truck.
1965 was a year of major changes. The trucks prior to '65 look the same externally, but underneath there is almost nothing that interchanges.

Just switch the complete beam set out, if you want to go to 5 lug. That would be simpler. IMHO
Hi 66 beater, I have these disc sets. From the spindles out or everything from axles to prake pedal. Just Private Massage me or email me from my web site if you still need a set.

Mike Please make a list of parts that you include in your set, and post it in this thread.
