I need some help. I have a 90 F150 Supercab 4X4 w/ 302 and a 5-speed. It will not start and I suspect the problem may be the fuse or relay for the starter. According to my Haynes manual, they are located in the power distribution box on the left inner fender. Either this is wrong or I'm as blind as a bat. If someone could help me out, I'd appreciate it.
Another common problem on Ford is the solenoid for the starter. You can find it on the passenger side fender wall. Use a pair of pliers or jumper cable to bypass the solenoid. If the starter works, the solenoid is bad. Check to make sure battery cables are clean also.
Make sure it's in nuetral when you do the solenoid bypass!!
I have a 90 F250 and the power distribution box is on the left inner fenderwell like they said. It's right behind th airbox, long skinny black plastic thing. It's got fuel pump relay, eec relay, and test connectors stamped on top of it.
Thank you for all the help. I found the problem last night. The contacts on the clutch safety switch where baddly corroded. I cleaned it up and that seemed to solve the problem. I had looked at it earlier and saw that it was connected and the wires were intact, so I never pulled the connector apart to look at it. Thanks again to everyone.
