Thanks Gary! I found a dealership out of state that has an original motor craft dist cap. The part number is D5AZ12106A.
i would have to assume it’s same part because last numbers are the same. I have seen it with other letters and numbers but as long as it ends in 12106A, it is all the same, right? It Would have to be bescause like you said, the cap fits many years and vehicles. All this is because I like to use points. It’s more pure. If you use points you have to insist on authentic Ford parts. I just never got around to the distributor cap til now so thanks!
D5AZ 12016-A (DH354) is a higher dialectic version of the original B7A 12106-A cap (BLACK). It will work.
12106 is the BASIC PART NUMBER for a DIST CAP. D5AZ indicates 1975 as the intro year for service. DH354 is the MOTORCRAFT PART NUMBER.
2X. By 1975 Fords had electronic ignition. Some in 1974. These had a hotter spark. So 1975 Ford introduced a new coil, 8mm plug wires, the D5AZ cap, and a rotor. So you can poke 7mm or 8mm plug wires in the D5AZ cap.
