Duraspark ll Cap
Anyone know if I can use a Duraspark ll cap and adaptor on my 76 distributor? Its a reman, with magentic pickup, which to my understanding is the style needed for Duraspark ll.

Yes, you can. If the distributor has the magnetic pickup, that's Duraspark. D1 and D2 are the same in terms of the distributor, the only difference is in the module and it's not major. The Duraspark cap uses a plastic ring adapter like you mention, with a flat cap that has male plug wire connectors. The pre-75 points style cap is a tall one-piece design with female plug wire connectors. You're good to go.

1975/76 vehicles use the same dizzy cap with OR without DuraSpark.
E2ZZ-12106-A .. Dizzy Cap (Motorcraft DH-411) use 1977/79.*
E2ZZ-12A217-B .. Adapter [plastic ring] (Motorcraft DJ-6) * use with E2ZZ-A dizzy cap (but was not used with D7TZ-A dizzy cap).
* Updated Ford part numbers, both are still available from FoMoCo.

You can also put the duraspark style cap on the older points distributors, if you add the spacer/adaptor ring and use the duraspark rotor. I did that on my 67 fairlane's 390, to help prevent crossfiring in the cap, since i run msd thats triggered from a pertronix ignitor.
