I've been sitting here reading about wheel offset forever. It's going to make my head explode. I know it's been beat into the ground, but I'm asking anyway. I have a 2001 f350. I recently put some 285 mickey thompson atz p3s on it (love them). It has slight rub on the rear of the LHS leaf at full lock. This seems like a good excuse to buy aftermarket wheels. What is the recommended offset? I figure I'll go with 16x8. The inch wider width should make my tires run a bit flatter. I've been playing with the pressure, but they still are a bit "domed". I just want to push them out a little bit. They don't rub bad, but it's there. Enough to allow my full (and sad) turn radius. Also, if someone thinks 16x9 would be a better option I'd like to hear your opinion

I ran 16x9 -12 with 285s with no rub issues. However I can also run 285s on stock wheels with no rub. I have x code springs, which help, What front springs do you have?

I haven't looked, but I'd guess just the standard ones. This one seems to sit lower in the front than I remember my last 350 being (also leaf sprung). I plan on putting new leaves in the front to level it out a bit, but it doesn't rub anything except the spring, so really that's just for aesthetic reasons.

Reason: Tried to add pic.
I have 285/75-16 all-terrain tires on 16x8" rims. The OEM offset for my Lariat wheels was +6mm and the offset for my current wheels (Ultra Type 164) is -6mm. It's close but I don't have any rubbing, even at full lock.
A few years ago I had a slight rub on the driver's side. Turns out I had a broken leaf.

it should tell you on your door sticker. There's a spring code section.
The different stock springs are all the same size, just different stiffnesses.
The truck might sit higher or lower depending on which code you have but unless you change out the bump stop it won't make a difference WRT rubbing. If it rubs it will rub on all spring codes and vice versa.

I looked (and read more). They are U code and look wore out. I had planned on buying some pro comp +2" springs, but after all of my reading today I think I'm going to get some X code springs. That won't help with my offset/rubbing, but It's still more info towards the direction I'm going to go.
If you haven't decided on a spring vendor I recommend Auto and Truck Springs (ATS). I'm on my 3rd set of front springs:
V Code original - lasted 6 years then broke a leaf
V Code replacement (OEM) - lasted 6 years then broke a leaf
X Code replacement (ATS) - 3 years and doing well
The X Code "rasied" the truck about 1.5". Take that with a grain of salt as the V Codes were already tired and one of the packs had a busted leaf.
The ride isn't that much stiffer when I bumped up to the X Code and have been very happy with my decision to go with the higher weight rating (V to X) and sourcing them from ATS. I have a custom rear set from ATS sitting in my garage and ready to go on when I have time.
My reading today has lead me to believe that ATS is the place to go and I actually bookmarked the page. I don't know what my last F350 had for springs, but it set higher and felt much more planted. It felt like a damn sportscar in the corners. I don't get that from this one. It's disappointing.
