need advice buying hitch setup, 6" or 8" drop
My SD: 2018 F250 XLT factory stock.
Looking to purchase adjustable ball mount. Currently looking at the Weigh Safe WS6-2.5 w/ 6" drop.
My question is should I get the 6" drop or the 8" drop?
I will be pulling 2 different loads.
Appreciate any feedback on the length of drop or any other suggestions on ball mounts.

I will be pulling 2 different loads.
- 1 load will be a 30 ft RV, bumper pull, 7000-8000 lbs, should be no issue.
- 1 load will be a single axle utility trailer with lawn mower, 4 wheeler.
Appreciate any feedback on the length of drop or any other suggestions on ball mounts.

thank you for input
I pull similar trailers. I opted for the 8" drop without really thinking about it much. In retrospect, 6" drop would have been plenty. I have no worries about the 8" dragging.
I use the Weigh Safe on my RV trailer only for around town. On the highway it's the WDH all the time.

While trying to decide, make sure how they are measuring the drop.
is it from the top of shank to the top of ball mounting surface, or to the top of ball.
Different manufactures measure differently and it makes about a 3 inch difference.
to figure out how much drop you need, just level up the lowest trailer and measure to the top of the hitch, then measure to the top of the receiver opening in the truck. Once you know how they are figuring their drop it is simple math.

Mike, that's a good point. My Weigh-Safe 8" drop shank is a true 8" drop, as measured from the bottom of the part of the shank that is inserted into the receiver to the bottom of the bracket However, if you look at the pictures of an Weigh-Safe 8" drop ball mount you'll see that the top of the ball is nowhere near 8" below the bottom of the shank. The bottom of the ball is maybe 5" below the bottom of the shank. So I suspect that they are indeed measuring from the top of the shank to the lowest point the (bottom of the) ball can be to get the 8" measurement.
There is a discount code for the Weigh-Safe ball mount if you look in the 2017+ subforum.
