Yea nowhere near that much. I have the XL screen as well. More or less wondering if quality door speakers etc, can improve the sound sufficiently.
One option that would bypass the whole system is to use a Bluetooth amp hooked up to some nice door speakers and a sub woofer. It will let you play music directly from a smart phone without having to integrate to the factory system.
I've actually been thinking about upgrading the audio as well on the truck I am hoping will arrive soon. 2018 XLT CCLB with Sync3 but no Sony. I miss having a decent sound system like in my previous vehicles but have never had anything real intense. Hoping a simple speaker/amp/sub install with some deadening in the doors will do the trick, just got to track down the parts required for it.
What speakers did you use and how was the install? Did the bass improve even though you don't listen to heavy bass? I listen to hard rock mostly. I just want a quality, factory sounding system.
Very happy with the output now compared to the stock "premier" sony system. The install was simple, just popped off the door panels and replaced the speakers, I used adapters to mount the new ones and metra wire adapters that plugged into the factory harness.

Did the Dayton center speaker make a big difference? I don't seem to notice mine with the new JL Audio speakers in the doors, those are the same models I have.

Thanks, I'm guessing that the new door speakers efficiency is just out performing the stock center speakers. I'll try to listen real close when I get back to my truck.
I did all 5 speakers at once based on research from this forum. The 5 together made a huge difference in fidelity but not sure how much difference was from each one.
Thinking about jumping on the speaker upgrade path. I have the Sony system and I like the thought of upgrading the speakers as a first move towards better sound. I don't really have an interest in adding amps or anything that will take away from my storage capacity of my truck rear seat area.
The JL Audio speakers 690 and 650's look like a good balance between price and performance and they come with incredible user reviews here and also Crutchfield.
Can anyone share what kind of modifications or hardware they needed to install these speakers? I have the wiring harnesses in my cart but just curious what I may need from a mounting bracket perspective or is it as simple as taking out the OEM's and screwing in the new speakers?
I took out the plastic tool organizer under the rear seat and added a Rockford Fosgate Punch 10 subwoofer, along with JL Audio speakers in the doors. I didn't change the center channel or pillar tweeters. To me it is a night and day difference, for hard rock you could still add a small amp for the door speakers to make it even better. There are slimmer subwoofers available but the Punch 10 was half the price of the others I looked at.
Forgot to mention that sound deadener was added to the doors when the speakers were replaced.
I did the exact same thing with a small 8" JL sub and mono amp. Night and day difference from the crap Ford put in there. I did it all myself so I was only out a few hundred dollars.

Thank you guys!
I ordered the door speakers from Crutchfield so it came with the adapter plates and the wiring adapters. Was actually cheaper than Amazon (with everything included) as I caught the speakers on sale a few months back.
