Another front spring thread

Have searched and seen threads on down sizing front springs on trucks equipped with the snow plow package. I have a F250 and will be installing a full replacement bumper. I want to level the front some, and don’t want the added weight of the bumper to add to lower the front end. So, I’m leaning towards upsizing my springs as opposed to a leveling kit. Any advice on moving up to 6,000 lb springs and any other changes required in doing so?

Thanks

I added f-550 coil springs in the front of my truck.. added another 3/4 of a inch to the truck on top of my 2in level kit . Truck rides about the same alittle more stiff

Did the heavier springs also require you to install longer shocks? Any other mods necessary to accommodate the heavier springs?

if u do a leveling kit on top of the coils yes it would require new shocks .. the rough country 2in leveling blocks and the coils almost got me 3in and everything bolted up like stock can't even tell (painted blocks black) and the shocks were 104$
coils swap is direct replacement and the truck recovers faster over bumps since the diesel is heavy so the 6k springs would get a couple extra bounces in compare the 7k springs if you get what I'm saying

I have F450 coils and it's sitting at least an inch over stock 4800 springs. I have the factory shocks.

I've been curious about this as well. My 250 has the either the 5200 or 5600 springs, I can't remember right now, but I was considering going to the 6000. I don't necessarily want to level since I do tow with the truck, but I'd like to take some of rake out of it. I'd like to hear how it's worked for others.

This past weekend I spent several minutes at my local dealer measuring the distance from the 4wd hub center to the bottom of the fender wheel well. I used this distance to avoid tire size variables. I compared many trucks....Snow Plow packages to Camper Pkgs to no suspension package trucks. While there might have been 1/4"-1/2" variance between them, the only conclusion I came to was the diesels were about 1" less. That wasn't a big surprise since we know its heavier than the gasser. All of the springs are the same height (14.7"). Now once you start loading the truck, the (heavier) springs would come into play.

I suspect a big 300# bumper wouldn't lower the front more than 1/2", probably a lot less.

Good question that I've been thinking about also. I'm looking to install a front receiver hitch that weighs around 50 lbs. The weight of the hitch itself doesn't worry me, it's the tongue weight of whatever I connect to that worries me.
