I was washing my truck and noticed there were two empty holes where it looks like bolts should be. The bracket connecting the tailgate to the truck bed appears to be pulling away as a result. Can anyone with a spray in liner advise if they have these bolts in place? These are on the passenger side.
I noticed that too. Maybe that side is only supposed to have the two bolts securing it but its strange the bracket is pulling away. Does your tailgate have those bolts installed?
I’ve got the spray in liner and I only have two bolts on both driver and passenger sides. I don’t have the two smaller bolts in your pic. They are just empty holes.
This is my passenger side. It has bolts where yours is missing but also looks different - has a bracket, maybe they forgot to put back on? 2018 F350 platinum diesel.
Yeah mine definitely does not have that bracket. Mine is also 2018 F350 Platinum diesel. Next time I take it in for service I will ask dealer about it. Thanks for the help.

Glad I could help. Now I am curious the purpose of that bracket. Is it the tailgate assist when you pop it open? Does your tailgate lower slowly since it does not have that bracket?
The two photos seem to display the difference between a truck without tailgate assist (1st photo above), and one with tailgate assist (2nd photo above). My KR has tailgate assist (standard with remote tailgate opener) and has the bracket as shown in the 2nd photo.
seems like its just a centering mechanism possibly. since the tailgate floats in the slot a little it seems this bracket fits into the channels on the truck - almost to keep it aligned. Likely for those of us with the steps.
