C5 transmission problem

C5 transmission problem
I have a 1985 F150 with a C5 auto transmission. Suspect the neural switch has gone bad. In addition to not starting when the switch goes bad, would they make the transmission not function in all the gears as well as possibly locking up the transmission as if in park?

No. That transmission is totally mechanical,, no electrical parts are going to keep it from working. You have the shifter, and the vacuum signal from the engine to the vacuum modulator on the trans. That is all mechanical and that is all the external controls to that type of trans.
