So I’m in the process of getting everything ready to put my truck on the delete diet. Talked to a buddy who had his done at a local shop, and they just unplugged the EGR on his 17. We were talking about his last truck a 6.0 they did a delete but didn’t recommend it on these new ones.
any downside to just unplugging it? It’d be easier Incase I need to reconnect it to go back to the dealer to not have to reinstall the exhaust
Cause eventually it will start setting codes, go into limp mode, and call the EPA. You have to tune if your deleting, to get around the issues, and if your doing an EGR delete, might as well do DOF and SCR while at it. There really isn’t much point in just deleting or disconnecting the EGR.

bare with me as this is my first diesel so I’m new to this. What is a DOF and SCR?
I’m planning on doing a 5inch down pipe back exhaust, and an EZ Link Tune setup from PSE.
Just wondering what else I need to do to this thing to really unleash the beast
Leaving it on the truck and just unplugging it is fine. I recommend at least doing block off plates to keep the gasses off the EGR valve. This also will give you the ability to read EGTs in the plate that covers the exhaust manifold.
After you block off the egr can you block coolant from going through it as well? The reason I ask is if for some reason the egr got a crack it it, I don’t want it to fill up with coolant, causing issues when I need to re-install for emissions testing at a later date.

To completely block coolant, you'd have to remove it.
