I guess the benefit would be to remove a source of failure in these trucks. In fairness, I don't hear of that many EGR problems with the 6.4. If the EGR is rerouting a portion of exhaust back through the air intake I would think there would have to be some soot included. That doesn't sound good to me. But that's just me and I'm no expert. Stand by and someone will tell us if I'm right.
I do know that you will need a tuner if you remove the EGR or you will get codes and the CEL. There are several tuners that will accomadate removing the EGR, Spartan and H&S both can do it and there are others I think.
